The Indian Media Alliance, founded in October 2024, is a social initiative that aims to remove barriers in access to media and marketing professions in underserved communities. We hope to employ a multifaceted approach in developing engaging learning opportunities that allow students to gain interest and skills in media and marketing.
Media literacy lies at the heart of our approach as an astute knowledge of the socio political realm is vital in journalism. In this vein, we are curating the “I’m Aware Workbook” interactive workbook geared towards younger students, exploring activities in journalistic writing techniques. Complimentary to this, the “I’m Awake Toolkit” will function as a comprehensive guide focusing on journalistic integrity, fact-checking, source credibility, and identifying misinformation.
Moreover, the project will also utilize engaging workshop sessions, allowing students to interact with individuals working in the field of journalism, providing them with valuable insight into the media and journalism industry of India. In an effort to further access, IMA will also be launching a fundraising campaign to support students with access to laptops and tools such as Canva to equip them with the material support necessary to build their skills further.=
